What we collect
- The checkup form. Company name, your name, work email, phone number, how many people need phones, what you use today, your current contract status, the problem you are trying to solve, your timeline, a rough budget range, and anything you type into the notes field.
- Server logs. Our host records standard request data: IP address, browser type, and the pages visited. This is how any website works and it is not tied to your form submission by us.
- What you tell us directly. Emails you send us, and notes from the calls.
Why we collect it
- To prepare your recommendation and to call or email you about it.
- To answer questions you send us.
- To see which pages are useful, once analytics is switched on.
Who sees it
- The phone carrier whose service we price for you. We are paid a commission by the carrier if you switch, and the details you give us are used to prepare your quote. This is the only reason your details leave us.
- The companies that run the plumbing. Netlify hosts the site and captures and stores form submissions. Cloudflare handles the domain and routes email. Google provides the mailbox and the analytics. Google Analytics only runs if you agree to it, described on the cookies page.
- Nobody else, and never for marketing. The carrier above is the one company that receives your details for business reasons, and that relationship is what pays us. Nothing goes to anyone for their own marketing.
Is that a sale? Under some state privacy laws, yes
You fill in the checkup to get a recommendation. To prepare it we send your details to the phone carrier we recommend, and we are paid a commission if you become their customer. Several state privacy laws define selling widely enough that an exchange like that counts as a sale or a share of personal information. Rather than deny it, here it is in plain terms.
- What goes to the carrier. Identifiers and commercial information: your name, work email, phone number, company, how many people need phones, who you use today, your contract status, the problem you are solving, your timeline, and your budget range.
- Why. To prepare your quote and to set up your account if you decide to buy.
- What we never send. No card or bank details, no health information, no client or patient information, no matter names. The checkup does not ask for them and the terms ask you not to send them.
- What we have done so far. Checkup details have been shared with the carrier for the purpose of pricing, when someone asked for a recommendation. Nothing has been sold or shared with anyone else.
How to say no to the sharing
You can stop us sending your details to a carrier, and you do not need an account or a reason. Two ways:
- Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Info link in the footer of any page, which lands on this section. It explains what to send and what happens next.
- Or email info@commsadvisors.com with "do not share" in the subject line. That covers anything you have already sent us.
What that means: your details do not go to any carrier, so there is no quote to prepare and no recommendation to send. We will not call you and we will not email you about a phone system. Treat it as saying no thanks to the whole process, which is a perfectly good answer. If you change your mind later, write to us and we will start again from the top.
What we do not want
Do not send client names, patient details, matter details or any other confidential information through the form or by email. We do not need it to price a phone system, and the checkup never asks for it.
How long we keep it
We keep a checkup submission and our call notes for as long as we are working with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards so the conversation can be picked up where it left off. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless we are required to keep a record of a completed transaction.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it or delete it.
- Tell us to stop contacting you. One email does it, and we stop.
Write to info@commsadvisors.com for any of the three.
